I ask big questions about the stories we tell ourselves and how we make meaning through community.

My academic research explored how policies, practices, and narratives of citizenship are linked to cultural norms of belonging in the United States. I studied, taught, and wrote about religion, citizenship, transnationalism, digital communities, identity, and popular culture.

Now, I'm leveraging my research and writing to support social impact, civic engagement, and democracy initiatives.
